Juicy, spiced Chicken Shawarma with creamy garlic sauce, a Middle Eastern classic made easy at home in 30 minutes.
Ingredients
1 ½ lbs chicken thighs or breasts
3 tbsp olive oil
Juice of 1 lemon
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp ground coriander
¼ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 cup Greek yogurt
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt to taste
Instructions
1. Whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and spices to make marinade.
2. Add chicken and coat evenly. Marinate 30 minutes or up to overnight.
3. Cook on skillet or grill 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
4. Mix yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt into a smooth garlic sauce.
5. Slice chicken and serve with garlic sauce, pita, or rice.
Notes
Use chicken thighs for juicier texture.
Broil for 2 minutes for extra charred flavor.
Pair with hummus, pickles, or salad for a full shawarma platter.
