Garlic Steak Tortellini Skillet: Creamy, Savory & Ready in 30 Minutes

Hello, I’m Sam. Since retiring, I’ve grown fond of those one-pan recipes that feel a little luxurious but don’t demand much effort. This Garlic Steak Tortellini Skillet is one of my go-to dinners when I’m craving something cozy and rich. Tender steak bites, cheese-filled tortellini, and a creamy garlic butter sauce come together in a single pan, comfort food made simple.

A Skillet Dinner That Feels Special

This dish combines the best of both worlds: hearty steak and indulgent pasta, brought together by a buttery garlic cream sauce that clings to every bite. The seared steak adds depth and texture, while the tortellini provides a soft, cheesy balance. Everything cooks in one skillet, which means less cleanup and more time to enjoy dinner.

Ingredients

For the steak:

  • 1 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter

For the sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 (9 oz) package cheese tortellini (fresh or refrigerated)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for a little kick

Instructions

  1. Sear the steak.
Season steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steak 1–2 minutes per side until golden. Remove and set aside.
  2. Make the sauce.
In the same skillet, add butter and garlic. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in heavy cream, beef broth, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Add the tortellini.
Stir in tortellini and cook 4–5 minutes until tender and sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Combine and finish.
Return steak to the pan. Add Parmesan and stir until melted and creamy. Sprinkle with parsley and optional red pepper flakes.
  5. Serve.
Plate hot and enjoy right out of the skillet.
