Description

Heart-shaped vanilla bean cake topped with delicate rose buttercream, a romantic and elegant dessert for Valentine’s Day.


Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

2 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 1/2 cups sugar

3 eggs

1 tbsp vanilla bean paste or 1 vanilla pod

3/4 cup milk or buttermilk

Rose Buttercream:

1 cup butter, softened

3 cups powdered sugar

1/2 tsp rose water (food-grade)

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pink food coloring (optional)


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two heart-shaped pans.

2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.

3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Beat in eggs and vanilla bean paste.

5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk; mix until smooth.

6. Divide batter into pans and bake 25–30 minutes.

7. Cool completely before frosting.

8. Beat butter until smooth; add sugar, vanilla, and rose water for buttercream.

9. Tint pink if desired and frost cooled cakes.

10. Decorate with rose petals or berries.

Notes

Use high-quality vanilla for the best flavor.

Start with a small amount of rose water — it’s strong!

Cake layers can be baked ahead and stored overnight.
