Description
Juicy skillet burgers topped with golden sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese. These Mushroom Swiss Smashburgers are quick, rich, and comforting, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
1 small onion, chopped (optional)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 burger buns, toasted
Optional: mayo, Dijon mustard, or burger sauce
Instructions
1. Heat butter and oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and salt, cooking for 6–8 minutes until golden. Add onion and Worcestershire sauce; cook 2 minutes more. Remove and set aside.
2. Wipe the pan clean and increase heat to medium-high. Divide beef into 4 balls, place in the skillet, and smash flat. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until crisp and brown.
3. Top each patty with Swiss cheese and cover briefly to melt.
4. Assemble burgers on toasted buns with sautéed mushrooms and sauce if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
Don’t rush caramelizing the mushrooms, they add deep flavor.
Swiss cheese gives that smooth, nutty melt perfect for this burger.
Toast the buns for the best texture.
These burgers pair perfectly with air fryer fries or roasted vegetables.
