Description

Savory steak crostini topped with creamy horseradish sauce and caramelized onions.

Ingredients

1 lb steak (sirloin or tenderloin)

1 French baguette, sliced

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp butter

2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced

1/3 cup sour cream or crème fraîche

1 tbsp prepared horseradish

1 tsp Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley or thyme for garnish

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice baguette and brush with olive oil; bake 8–10 minutes until crisp.

2. Melt butter and olive oil in skillet; add onions and salt. Cook 25–30 minutes until golden and soft.

3. Season steak with salt and pepper; sear 2–3 minutes per side for medium-rare. Rest 10 minutes, then slice thinly.

4. Mix sour cream, horseradish, Dijon, salt, and pepper for sauce.

5. Spread sauce on crostini, top with steak, caramelized onions, and herbs.

6. Serve warm or room temperature.

Notes

Caramelize onions slowly for deep sweetness.

Use tenderloin for the most delicate texture.

Assemble just before serving so bread stays crisp.
