Description
Salted Caramel Chocolate Lava Cookies are rich, fudgy cookies filled with melty caramel centers and topped with flaky salt, easy to make and wildly impressive.
Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
12 soft caramels (like Werther’s)
Flaky sea salt for topping
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheet.
2. Whisk melted butter and sugars until glossy.
3. Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
4. Sift in cocoa, flour, baking soda, salt. Mix until just combined.
5. Fold in dark chocolate chips.
6. Scoop dough, press a caramel into center, seal around it.
7. Place on tray and bake 9–10 minutes.
8. Sprinkle with sea salt while warm.
9. Cool 5–10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use dark chocolate for depth, or milk chocolate for a sweeter bite.
Seal the caramel well to prevent leaks.
Best served warm or reheated for lava effect.
